Hurricane Sandy on Staten Island

A pair of women's rainboots gathered with a pile of flood-damaged objects in Cathy Fossella's home on Tarlton Avenue. Fossella was reluctant to let volunteers demolish the interior of the house, figuring it could be restored as-is in time to have relatives in to celebrate Christmas. Volunteers convinced her, however, that the saturated and molding drywall posed a health risk.
